Hotels in Greece area reported positive results for the first 8 months of 2018.
As far as the hotel traffic and returns are concerned up to August 2018, there is an increase in occupancy in the 8 months of 2.2% and the average room rate by 8.5%.
However, compared to previous years, the decline (negative sign) of hotel occupancy for three months and peak (June, July, August by -0.2%, -1.4% and -0.5 % respectively)
According to information supplied by IQrate, which monitors hotel data and benchmarking, the figures for the Greek country were still lower than the average European rate, but nevertheless moving upwards.
What’s also noteworthy is the fact that tourist arrivals in the greater Greece area have increased by an even greater rate than appears in the occupancy rate, meaning that the “Airbnb” phenomenon is definitely expanding to the Greek country.
More specifically, while arrivals at the airport by July 2018 show an increase of 21.8%, hotel occupancy in the same period does not exceed an increase of 3.6%.
